“That was the first time i’ve drawn anything since 2003! It feels like taking a breath after being held underwater for 5 minutes.” –Tony Quan aka Tempt One
Tony Quan, aka Tempt1, is a legendary LA graffiti writer, publisher and activist. He was diagnosed with ALS in 2003, a disease which has left him almost completely physically paralyzed… except for his eyes. Earlier this year, members of FAT, OpenFrameworks, G.R.L., The Ebeling Group and Tempt1, teamed up to create a low-cost, open source eye-tracking system that will allow ALS patients to draw using just their eyes. Check out the project along with source code, free software, diy instructables and eyetags by Tempt1 at eyewriter.org.
The EyeWriter core development team consists of Tony Quan, Evan Roth, Chris Sugrue, Zach Lieberman, Theo Watson and James Powderly.

As Twitter releases its official support for retweets, we’ve decided to hack help them test out their new system by increasing the volume of retweets. Retweet Game applies retweeting into a game, with the winners receiving hundreds of new retweets and followers.
Retweet Game exploits the user’s desires for Twitter popularity and reach with a unassuming and forgettable interface while thrusting users’ common conversations into the upper bounds of Twitter famousness. Users to gamble their time and tweets for a chance to win a retweet round. Perfect loosing your *real* Twitter friends.
Of course, you can always increase your odds with a donation to F.A.T. :D
Retweet Game was made by Greg Leuch using Sinatra.
Grab the source code and run your own instance of Retweet Game.
The G.R.L. / F.A.T. World Summit was held last week at the Cash Rules Everything Around Me Festival in Yokohama, Japan. In attendance was G.R.L. (Mother Cell), G.R.L. Utah, G.R.L. Brazil, G.R.L. Australia, G.R.L. Tokyo, G.R.L. Yokohama G.R.L. Kyoto & Tokyo F.A.T. (in absentia G.R.L. Mexico, G.R.L. Houston & G.R.L. Vienna).
:
There are more photos up here, and there is a live stream of the first ever Tokyo F.A.T. & F.A.T. (Mother Cell) meet up here (however I suggest skipping forward until at least 25:30 when we are done forcing people to eat vegemite).
There are too many people to thank and shout out, but I hope I see you all again at the G.R.L. / F.A.T. World Summit 2010 (if not sooner).
P.S, big ups to G.R.L. Houston’s new release of Texas Big Face (complete w/ HOW TO):
