I ve been looking at these cheaply produced, super low resolution LED signs (the IRL animated gif ;-) for a while already. End of last year I filmed this meaningfull pair in a kiosk window in Berlin and fell in love with them. First I used the picture for the SPEED SHOW 5 title in Paris but I had to take it a bit further. :) You find LED signs in any shopping window especially in EU these days. There are also many OPEN signs in US but hardly any INTERNET signs. I had to change that! :)
The OPEN INTERNET intervention was produced during my residency stay at EYEBEAM.

F@ FFFFFasion….
Support open source by looking fresh. Ubuntu’s summer line is now available with hot new designs that will give Mozilla and Open Office some fierce competition on the runways of silicon valley.

Rebel With a C&D
Personally, as an artiste, I know my work isn’t finished until 1) my mom calls to tell me how disappointed she is in me or 2) I get a cease & desist letter for copyright infringement. So, what does it mean if you get a C&D from iconoclast street artist Shepard Fairey for your parody of his senescent work. Well, for Baxter Orr, it means you can def clock out for the day my brother and celebrate a job well done. And for Shepard, i think it means you’re basically finished too.
Update: For a photo of the print that launched as many as one C&D click here.

The Pirate Bay in Amsterdam!
What better way to give props to our favorite Swedish pirates who are pro-actively fighting the greedy worldwide copyright mafia: RIAA, MPAA, IFPI(owned). GRL amsterdam was running the new version of the open source Laser Tag aloft a pirate ship during the Amsterdam Museum N8. Check bellow the fold for some record breaking laser tag madness.

Nokia “Open”?
I haven’t done much research into this so I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing, or what they even mean by the term “open”, but I thought it was worth noting that this is first time I’ve seen a major corporation advertising “openness” when getting off the F train.
