Google is collecting a lot of data about how we use the web. The new Google Alarm Firefox addon visually & audibly alerts you whenever your personal information is being sent to Google servers. Click here to install:

No-sound version (workplace-friendly)
is also available: click to install

Chrome extension now available (beta): click to install

No sound version: click to install

Even outside Gmail and YouTube you are constantly sending Google your information through their vast network of “tracking bugs”: Google Analytics, Google AdSense, YouTube embeds, API calls… all of this data can be used to monitor & track your personal web browsing habits.

Google Alarm shows notifications, plays sound effects and keeps running stats about the % of websites you’ve visit with Google bugs present. Stay alert – install Google Alarm today.

    When I try to get the no-sound version ‘click to install’, I get instead another page entirely full of junk like this;
    PKE<FRchrome.manifestUT @MLyeLux MK x` Iƈ "ɱh`ipQ4*{!h{sMB?shM(G'1cp x&yr&Me7]ztusA[/e$k
    I'm using the latest iteration of Firefox, on a plain vanilla PC. I get the same junk when I try to open that link in a new window or a tab. Y'all need to FIX this, now I trust you even less than I do Google, if your coders are THAT inept! Good luck to you, I think you need some.

  34. Hezza says:

    This is being stopped due to the technology being created by one Steve Ballmer’s former company. Steve is personally (not Microsoft) suing Google, U-Tube, NetFlix and many others for use of patented technology. However, if anyone was smart they would use the in-private browsing for non-collection of information.

  35. Hezza says:

    “I think most people are missing the point. The point is that you should not be affraid to question why things are the way they are. If no one questions why then how will you know or find out if your rights have been violated.

    The biggest problem as one post said is intelectual property rights. Say you have a good idea and you do a search in google. Your idea is now fair game for anyone with access to search entries. Is that OK??”

    HAHAHA – You think that anyone has the time to go through a terabyte a day of information just to steal YOUR idea? Thats like saying the government knows, sees and is taking pictures of you at the stop light. Stop using e-mail, someone might have access to that too. Stop going into stores because someone has access to the video cameras. Stop using your bank, because someone has access to your accounts there too. Paranoia over a database that matches keywords and spits out suggestions. OH, don’t use your cell phone either – I might be listening…
